GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Reporting to the Shift Lead/Supervisor, the Equipment Operator is responsible for operating one or more types of heavy equipment safely and efficiently. Maintaining clean equipment and a safe work environment. Other duties will include general labor and operating various types of equipment such as a forklift or skid steer.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of safety protocols and the procedures used to control heavy equipment
• Coordination to use all the controls on pieces of equipment
• Possessing enough strength to operate the controls on heavy equipment, such as forklift, skid steer, etc
• Use power tools and machinery (e.g. forklifts) when needed
• Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks (e.g. digging, stacking up goods)
• Ability to remain stationary in the seat or operating area of the equipment for prolonged periods
• Problem-solving skills to diagnose issues with equipment
• Strong oral communication skills to interact with other workers on the jobsite
• Basic writing skills to accurately complete reports and other paperwork

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 50 pounds etc.)
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus
• Communication and teamwork skill
• Commitment to safety rules

EQUIPMENT USED:

This position utilizes fork trucks, conveyers, computers, printers, scanners, telephone, and calculator, fax/scanning machine and other general office equipment, as well as all specialized production equipment.
