Description

Stefanutti Stocks is looking for an enthusiastic and specialized General Foreman/Production Manager to join our team.

This position assumes supervisory responsibility over workers, materials and plant in respect of all trades on a specific part of the work on a particular contract working to a programme and deadlines as agreed with the Site Agent/Contracts Manager.

 

Key Performance Areas: 

Programme implementation – Accurately implement drawings and specifications for the trades or areas under the Foreman’s responsibility. Plan and utilize resources and materials to ensure the achievement of maximum output efficiencies to meet production and time targets. Timeously ensure drawings and information is sufficient and correct, to facilitate adherence to the program and constructability.

Record keeping – Undertake timeous filing of latest drawings taking care that all superseded information is destroyed. Record information, including personnel, production and operational data on the specified forms and reports, site diaries, DSTI & permits. Progress and subbie updates.

Setting out and surveying – Undertake a detailed setting out of the works from an established grid
Maintain and transfer datum lines. Maintain gridlines and benchmarks

Plant and equipment oversight – Ensure plant and equipment are correctly applied, serviced and maintained. Ensure hired plant & equipment is arranged timeously.

SHEQ assurance, compliance and implementation – On a daily basis complete Quality Assurance checklists ensuring specifications are met. Timeously submit checklists to the Site Agent/Contract Manager. Immediately react to non-conformance reports. Manage and control wastage of materials. Continuously ensure and maintain compliance with company and legal requirements for site safety.

Housekeeping – On a daily basis inspect cleanliness and general housekeeping. On a daily basis sign off that all activities under their control is completed, the site has been cleaned and left in a safe and secure state

Staff/Subcontractor supervision – Assign work to employees ensuring that the relevant materials and equipment is available. Motivate and uplift employees through coaching and development. Assist in creating a cohesive culture that promotes optimum performance.

Continuously examine and inspect work progress of subordinates and sub-contractors for:

• Adherence to drawing and specifications
• Dimensional accuracy
• Cleanliness and good housekeeping
• Safety
• Co-ordinate sub-contract activities in terms of an agreed sequence and prevent out of sequence works or the overlapping of trades in restricted areas.
• Report any breakdowns, work stoppages or any other obstruction preventing works to proceed to the Site Agent/Contract Manager.
• Monitor and manage performance of subordinate staff in compliance with the Performance Management policy and processes
• Mentor staff as appropriate to improve performance and to enhance likelihood of career growth in subordinate staff
• Practice sound labour relations within the approved conditions of service regarding staff including but not limited to:
• Maintaining Discipline
• Assisting the Site Agent/Contract Manager in resolving employee grievances and welfare requirements
• Ensure compliance of subordinate staff to Stocks policies, procedures and practices
• Maintain a critical mass of staff ensuring effective staff retention

Requirements

Minimum Requirements: 
• NQF 5 Qualification
• Bachelor’s Engineering
• National Diploma in Civil Engineering
• At least 15 years related experience in the construction / engineering environment

Knowledge: 
• Knowledge of construction processes and applicable trades
• Computer literacy
